Description:

WHO YOU ARE:

As our Design Intern, you will be responsible for supporting the Design team as needed to accomplish their day-to-day functions. You will have a hand in working and collaborating with key players within the Apparel department. This includes but is not limited to:

  • Supporting the entire product design process, including market research, commodity creation, sketching and fit;
  • Assisting the development and execution of product designs that are aligned with the overall product strategy and merchandise objectives;
  • Researching global markets to identify emerging trends, fabrics, techniques that are aligned with the Ardene customer and brand;
  • Assist and participate in fit sessions when necessary, and approve production elements related to design (fabric, trim, color);
  • Assist and support with presentation of seasonal lines developed, providing relevant insight consistent with market trends and business strategy;
  • Analyzing sales that supports business objectives;
  • Other tasks/projects as required;

WHAT YOU’LL NEED:

  • Experience in a fashion retailer is a strong asset;
  • College-level degree in Fashion Design or in a pertinent field completed or in progress;
  • Knowledge of Illustrator and Photoshop;
  • Proficient in basic Microsoft Office software;
  • Bilingualism required (French/English);
  • Excellent fashion sense and ability to translate trends;
  • Positive attitude;
  • Proven ability to collaborate with all functions and all levels;
  • Excellent presentation and communication skills;
  • Ability to adapt to changing environments and be flexible;
  • Strong attention to detail;
  • Results oriented;
  • A strong team player with the ability to influence others;
